Kenya Leyva is a dedicated family nurse practitioner with a diverse range of experience in healthcare settings. From December 2016 to 2018, she served as an inpatient nurse at Catholic Hospice in Miami, FL, focusing on providing compassionate end-of-life care. Her responsibilities included managing pain and symptoms, offering support to patients and families, and ensuring a dignified process of death.
During her tenure as a Home Health Nurse at Catholic Hospice, Kenya excelled in monitoring patient needs and developing comprehensive care plans in collaboration with physicians. She skillfully coordinated and oversaw care, which encompassed tasks such as administering IVs, wound care, physical assessments, and medication education.
From October 2015 to 2020, Kenya contributed her expertise to Palmetto General Hospital in Hialeah, FL. In this role, she diligently monitored and reported symptoms or changes, ensuring optimal patient care. Kenya also provided valuable health education to individuals, families, and communities, addressing topics such as disease prevention and childbirth. Her dedication extended to assessing environmental factors that could impact health and safety, as well as directing infection control programs.
Prior to join the Emed family, as a part of the central staffing team at Jackson North Medical Center, Kenya adeptly navigated various units, including med-surg telemetry, PACU, ER holding, and post-partum. Her skills encompass pain management, direct patient care, and expertise in PACU and post-partum settings. Additionally, Kenya served as an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) on a per diem basis at EZ Medical Center since October 2022, where she conducted thorough patient examinations, created treatment plans, collaborated with other medical professionals, and performed minor medical procedures.
